A new study has found that the erectile dysfunction drug sildenafil is as safe as Viagra, the world's top-selling erectile dysfunction drug, to the US market.
The study, led by the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, analyzed data from 3,300 records from 1,020 health-related claims, the results of which were analysed by the International Long-Term Erectile Function Survey. The analysis revealed that in the US, men taking the drug experienced a significant increase in the prevalence of erectile dysfunction compared to those taking the drug in other countries.
"This shows that the efficacy of sildenafil has changed substantially in the US from 2000 to 2003, while in other countries, sildenafil was still effective," said lead author Robert R. Meyers, M. D., professor of urology at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
