MANILA, Philippines — An online retailer selling fake Viagra to boost men's confidence has been hit by an onslaught of spam, and authorities are investigating.
Pharmaceutical company Pfizer said it was launching a national investigation into the matter early this week. The company said its products are “very safe and effective,” but that the company is not offering them to the general public.
The online retailer’s website was shut down in September after it was found to contain a few hundred spam emails. The company said they were only available on its own dime and will not sell the products to the general public.
Pfizer said the emails were created to attract customers who are not satisfied with Pfizer’s products and were being sold directly to customers in the Philippines.
